Explore Camden

January 5, 2018

How's this for a New Years Resolution?  Come and explore South Carolina's oldest inland city from the first survey of Fredericksburg in 1732 to the present day.

The Camden Archives & Museum is a great place to start for an overview of the area's history.  Historic Camden is a must for anyone interested in the Revolutionary War or the colonial era city.  The National Steeplechase Museum is the only museum in the United States dedicated to the people and horses that have made the sport of steeplechasing.

Take a walk down to Little Pine Tree Creek on Historic Camden's  .6 mile nature trail.  Or walk in the footsteps of patriots at the Camden Battlefield  where the British routed the American troops and many believed the Revolution to be lost.  (Hint - they were WRONG!)

Enjoy one of Camden's seventeen parks or visit the Tennis Center of Camden which will be opening in January.

The city has installed signage at many of the historic sites, has developed a phone app and several online audio tours, and brochures and maps that make exploring Camden easy.
